Everyone wants to look fit, and that
is how shaperwear first came into being. For centuries, these garments
were classified as undergarments and could be worn only under clothes, and were
primarily a utility tool that helped women shape different body parts according
to their needs. This was done through the use of shapers like corsets, girdles,
waist cinchers, and so on. Fortunately, shapers have now evolved into not only
utility garments, but fashion accessories too. Body shapewear can now also be
worn as lingerie in itself, owing to improved designs and more comfortable
fabrics. The
question that arises here is, how do we choose a shapewear?
Initially, women who purchased these
garments were made fun of and looked down upon. Now, this is reduced, and things
have progressed so much that even men can now walk into stores and buy
shapewear. Stores now carry men’s items and those too are available in all
shapes and sizes. These stores also help women choose their shapewear.
They do not make certain body parts appear enhanced, instead they nip and tuck
the body part in question, giving the user a smooth silhouette. However, users
must be careful of the pitfalls of using these, as they may cause blood clots
and soreness, heartburn and acid reflux, breathing problems.
Choosing a right
shapewear can be a daunting task and not many women take the time and pains
necessary to do so. Experts recommend that more women do so, as this will help
maximise the benefits of shapewear.
